Paleo Expedition is a unique paleontology field experience for Oklahoma high school students currently enrolled in grades 9, 10 and 11. Space is limited and the application process is competitive. Twelve selected students will begin their 15-day residential adventure with scientists from Sam Noble Museum. The first week of the program will include learning paleontology basics at the Museum and travel to Oklahoma geological and paleontolgical field sites. The second week will include travel to an amazing paleontological find in the Black Mesa region of Oklahoma, where students will implement the skills they have learned. Students will explore the prairie ecosystem of today and the past with paleontologists, while learning basics such as mapping, GPS navigation and camping survival. |
